It’s been a fantastic start to the 2014 for Liverpool, and supporters inside the Football Transfer Tavern are starting to genuinely believe that anything is possible this season.
Wednesday night’s 3-2 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage may well to turn out to be the most important result in the clubs season.
The Reds came into the game on the back of that incredible 5-1 thrashing of Arsenal, and struggled to replicate a similar performance on a wet and windy night in West London.
Twice they fell behind through defensive errors, but were twice able to pull themselves level, before captain Steven Gerrard secured the three points with a late pressure penalty.
The result kept the Reds three points clear of Tottenham in fourth place, and whilst Brendan Rodgers insists that remains the clubs primary objective, they remain just four points behind league leaders Chelsea.
One concern is that the Reds do not have the squad depth of those above and around them, after the club disappointingly failed to do any transfer business in January.
The summer is expected to be a busy time for the club however, especially if there is an extra bit of Champions League money floating about.
