It’s been a tough campaign for Manchester United and their supporters. Seventh in the Premier League, out of both domestic cups with just the Champions League to contend with, it’s fair to say that David Moyes has struggled upon his arrival at Old Trafford.
Even the most negative United in the Football Transfer Tavern wouldn’t have predicted this kind of downfall as Moyes replaced Sir Alex Ferguson over the summer.
One of the major problems has been recruitment with only Marouane Fellaini and Juan Mata have arriving at the club but despite this nearly £65 million has been spent on the duo.
The club’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has already promised a radical overhaul of the squad in the summer, with Woodward telling investor that the reigning Premier League champions would be ‘active in the transfer market in a way never seen before.’
It is thought that United could have a mammoth £150m to fund additions in the post-season as the American owners try to arrest the club’s slump before they lose too much money.
This leads to punters in the bar discussing who they think United will recruit in the summer, with completely unrealistic shouts like Andres Iniesta and Marco Reus being dismissed almost immediately by our sensible thinking landlord.
We’ve got stuck trying to think of five possible transfers for the summer so we’ve handed the task over to the few United supporters grouped around the fruit machine. However as one quips, whoever they sign it can’t really get much worse for Moyes can it?
