Mohamed Salah Tottenham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are still nursing the wounds of the last summer transfer window, which will be forever remembered as a massive blunder.

The club splashed over £100 million on a host of new signings this time 12 months ago, following the world record sale of Gareth Bale.

The new additions were supposed to make Tottenham Premier League title contenders, but a sixth-placed finish and two managers later, Mauricio Pochettino is faced with a rebuilding programme this summer.

The former Saints boss is the major arrival at White Hart Lane this summer and showed during his time on the south coast he is capable of getting the best out of what he has.

He may be having to do the same thing in North London, with chairman Daniel Levy unwilling to fund big money moves after the failures of last summer.

But would it have been a different story if Tottenham had not failed in their pursuit of their top targets down the years?
