Whilst last weekend proved to be the most testing in Arsenal’s season, any Gunners fan inside the Football Transfer Tavern will tell you they would have bitten your hand off if they were offered the chance to be top of the table one game before Christmas.

A win against Chelsea at the Emirates on Monday night will see Arsenal on top of the tree on Christmas day, and without a doubt well and truly in with a chance of ending their trophy drought.
Wenger has been criticised often for his failure to sign top players during the transfer window, and his constant insistence the players he has at his disposal are good enough.
This season, the Arsenal boss is looking likely to be proved right, following a dramatic improvement from players at the club who had previously been written off in some quarters.
