Jose Mourinho’s second coming has been slightly underwhelming for everyone if truth be told, with some shock defeats and a lack of goals – especially from the club’s strikers.
Wins have been unconvincing and the style of play has been questioned.
But due to the strange nature of this Premier League season, Chelsea could find themselves second in the table to Liverpool only on goal difference, should Mourinho keep up his superb record against Arsene Wenger when the Blues visit the Emirates Stadium on Monday.
The Blues have quietly gone about their business picking up points in unspectacular fashion.
And with the January transfer window fast approaching, Mourinho knows a couple of big signings will see his side considered one of the favourites for a major trophy this season.
Whilst the first half of the season may have been somewhat underwhelming, there have still been some decent performers for Jose Mourinho’s men.
Two of the stars of last season have found themselves on the fringes of the first team this time around, with Mourinho controversially leaving out Juan Mata and David Luiz more often than not.
Ashley Cole has also found himself on the bench in recent weeks, meaning others have been given the opportunity to step up and be counted.
