With the dust having now settled on an incredible 2013/14 season, Liverpool fans have reason to feel both disappointed and optimistic.
Brendan Rodgers’ side may have missed out on their first title since 1990 in the final couple of weeks of the season, but a second-placed finish should still be considered a fantastic achievement, given the fact most were tipping the Reds to struggle to break into the top four at the start of the season.
A return to the Champions League for the first time since 2009 is much welcomed on Merseyside, with Liverpool’s special relationship with the competition leading the fans to believe that anything could be possible next season.
And along with a return to Europe’s elite club competition, comes more finances for Brendan Rodgers to strengthen his squad.
The Reds did remarkably well last season when you consider how thin their squad is in comparison to the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and even Manchester United.

Rodgers now has the money to spend in order to add more depth and quality to his squad, in order to take the Reds to that next level and challenge again on all fronts next season.
