Nine minutes into Sunday’s FA Cup Final at Wembley, Arsenal fans felt as though they were watching a horror movie slowly unfold in front of their eyes.
Arsene Wenger’s side had gone into the final clash with Hull City as overwhelming favourites, but it looked as though the pressure of ending the nine-year trophy drought had become too much as they found themselves two goals down with barely ten minutes played.
Had the Gunners not managed to turn things around with goals from Santi Cazorla, Laurent Koscielny and an extra-time winner from Aaron Ramsey, you wonder whether Arsene Wenger would still be overseeing the clubs’ summer transfer business.
But as things stand, a fourth-placed finish and FA Cup success will go down as a decent season for the Gunners – despite the fact they sat top of the Premier League table for longer than any other side over the duration of the season.
Next season must see a serious title challenge however, and the only way that will prove possible is if Wenger decides to spend some serious money before the transfer deadline.
The Gunners have plenty of money to spend following their new kit deal with Puma, and plenty of players have already been linked.
