The hangovers are only just about wearing off for Chelsea fans, after a weekend spent celebrating a 4-0 win over bitter rivals Tottenham that took the Blues seven points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
Jose Mourinho continues to play mind games with himself, by insisting Chelsea cannot consider themselves title challengers whilst Manchester City hold three games in hand.
But everyone seems to agree Chelsea are in the strongest position of all the title challengers, having already got the points on the board.
You can’t help but feel Mourinho is downplaying his sides chances to make the achievement of winning the title seem all the more impressive should his team stay top between now and the end of the season.
But the truth is, whilst the Blues have struggled for goals from their strikers, they have more than enough quality and have spent more than enough money to be considered true contenders.
Mourinho claims next season will be the time for Chelsea to launch a serious assault on all fronts, once he has had another summer to reshape the squad.
Whilst that is certain to improve some incomings, we can also expect a few outgoings at Stamford Bridge.
