The January transfer window is edging ever closer, and it’s set to be a big one for Liverpool and Manchester United.
Both teams went through contrasting summer windows.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers had clearly learnt his lessons from 2012 and the Andy Carroll fiasco, and duly completed his business early.
In came Simon Mignolet, Kolo Toure, Mamadou Sakho, Victor Moses, Tiago Ilori, Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto, whilst money was recouped with the sales of Stewart Downing, Jonjo Shelvey and Andy Carroll.
However, Rodgers did miss out on the marquee signing he claimed a large sum of money had been especially put aside for.
Chances to sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Diego Costa and Willian came and went, and Rodgers will hope to add a marquee signing this winter.
Manchester United and David Moyes meanwhile had a summer transfer window to forget, and will be desperate to put that right this time around.
Moyes was desperate to bring in a new creative midfielder, but was left frustrated in his pursuits of Thiago Alcantara, Cesc Fabregas and Ander Herrara.
In the end, Maraoune Fellaini was the only arrival for an excessive £27.5 million.
Both clubs remain in the title hunt as we head towards December, and whilst both have different targets for the end of the season, stories suggest both are targeting similar players.
