Arsenal fans went through something of a mixed summer transfer window.
The signing of Alexis Sanchez saw Gunners fans coming out of the woodwork, claiming that 2014/15 was going to be their season.
But when only Mathieu Debuchy, David Ospina and Calum Chambers followed, transfer deadline day took on added significance.
And whilst many supporters were hoping for the arrival of a proven world class striker – the likes of Edinson Cavani or Radamel Falcao – Arsene Wenger completed the surprise £16 million signing of Danny Welbeck.
Whilst still only 23, and with undoubted potential, Welbeck’s goal record for both club and country has left some Arsenal fans concerned.
And with their usual injury jinx looking to have struck early this term with Mathieu Debuchy set for two months on the sidelines with a sprained ankle, it looks as though Wenger will have to re-enter the transfer market in January.
Of course, circumstances will dictate just how busy Wenger may need to be, but rumours of several top class players making their way to north London in the winter persist.
Here, we have identified five players who could well end up following Danny Welbeck to Arsenal when the January transfer window opens.
