Almost a month has passed since transfer deadline day, and things have not got much better for Manchester United fans.
New manager David Moyes and new chief executive Ed Woodward came under fire for their transfer dealings over the summer, and with the form United have displayed on the pitch so far this season, it seems almost certain the pair will look to rectify their summer mistakes in January.
Sunday’s 4-1 defeat to Manchester City was a harsh wake up call for Moyes and his side, who have picked up a total of just seven points from a possible 15, and have not scored a Premier League goal in open play since Danny Welbeck’s 90th minute strike on the opening day of the season.
Never the less, United have insisted there is no panic, with the club writing an open letter to supporters to allay any lingering doubts over the way Manchester United conducted their summer business.
The letter claimed the club had two main priorities in the summer which the were both achieved – the first being to hang onto Wayne Rooney, and the second being to add a new midfielder.
Maraoune Fellaini’s deadline day switch meant United met their second target – albeit at perhaps £4million more than they should have done – but the feeling surrounding Old Trafford is that United are still one or two top players short.
Here we have identified 5 potential signings that could follow the Belgian to Old Trafford in January.
