It’s all been a bit quiet for Tottenham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern this summer.
This time 12 months ago it was mayhem at White Hart Lane, with the club splashing over £100 million on new arrivals following the world record sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid.
But after a disappointing 2013/14 campaign, it seems chairman Daniel Levy is acting in a more conservative manner this time around, with the only big name arrival so far that of manager Mauricio Pochettino from Southampton.
Pochettino was appointed on the basis he has a proven track record of improving players, suggesting Levy is keen to see the vast sums of money he spent last summer have some long-term benefit.
But Tottenham will also be well aware that some new additions will have to be forthcoming, considering the teams that finished above them last season have all started strengthening already.
It’s a big test for Pochettino to make the step up to a club with such high ambitions, but the Argentine has done superbly well during his time in England, and will be confident of making Spurs a force next season with the right additions.
Here we have identified five players who we think have every chance of ending up at White Hart Lane sooner or later.
