Arsenal fans have gathered in the Football Transfer Tavern ready to preview another exciting weekend of Premier League action.
The Gunners sit five points clear at the top of the table after Chelsea and Manchester City both dropped points last Saturday, although a late equaliser from Gerard Deulofeu at the Emirates Stadium meant it was not quite the perfect weekend.
Arsene Wenger knows very well the gap may well be shortened to just two points by the end of the weekend, as his side faces the unenviable task of visiting the Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side have won every single one of their Premier League home games this season, and have managed a combined total of seventeen goals against Manchester United, Newcastle United, Everton and Tottenham alone – the biggest sides to have visited this season.
Wenger will need his defence to be at their very best if his side is to come away with a positive result, and a lot of pressure will fall on Carl Jenkinson.
The young full back has been thrown into the side in recent weeks to cover for the injured Bacary Sagna, a man who not many believe will be at the Emirates for too much longer.
The 30-year-old is yet to sign a new deal at the Emirates Stadium, and has been heavily linked with a return to France.
Whilst Jenkinson continues to improve, Wenger will surely have to enter the transfer market to find a top class replacement for the Frenchman, who has been at Arsenal since 2007.
Here we have identified five realistic candidates to replace Sagna should he depart.
