The new Premier League season gets underway in less than two weeks and Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern admit they are feeling a lot more positive about the season ahead than they did 12 months ago.
This time a year ago, the Gunners were at the centre of a transfer saga involving Luis Suarez and Arsene Wenger was yet to add any new arrivals.
Anger spread amongst supporters following the opening day defeat to Aston Villa and despite the deadline day capture of Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid, the Premier League title proved a step too far.
However, Wenger did get his hands on a trophy in the end with the FA Cup success in May relieving a huge deal of pressure from his Arsenal squad.
The end of the nine-year trophy drought – alongside four new summer signings – has got Arsenal fans dreaming that this could well be their year.
No team spent longer at the top of the table than the Gunners last season, only for injuries to see them slip out of the table race as winter turned to spring.
But there is a genuine feeling amongst supporters that this side is capable of going one better this year.
