Arsenal supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern have finally been given some good news regarding a summer transfer target.
The Independent are amongst those reporting that the Gunners are ready to offer AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli £180,000-a-week in an attempt to lure him back to the Premier League.
Balotelli is said to be unhappy in Italy after a season of struggle at the San Siro, and his agent has refused to rule out the prospect of a £25-27 million move this summer.
However, Arsenal fans will not believe the reports until they see Balotelli holding an Arsenal shirt at the press conference to confirm his signing.
The Gunners supporters have come to dread transfer windows.
Last summer saw the club miss out on a host of top targets and wait until the very last moment to sign Mesut Ozil, whilst January was a similar story – except a crocked 33-year-old Swedish midfielder was the deadline day arrival.
This transfer window has started in similar fashion, with Bacary Sagna joining Manchester City, Thomas Vermaelen reportedly close to joining Manchester United, and former captain Cesc Fabregas joining fierce London rivals Chelsea.
With all this in mind, we have identified five reasons why Arsenal simply must sign Mario Balotelli this summer.
