Arsenal can complete their first season objective this weekend, and ensure Champions League qualification with a win over West Bromwich Albion tomorrow, should Everton fail to take anything from their clash with Manchester City.
With an FA Cup Final to come, the best Gunners fans can hope for this season is their customary top four finish, and an end to their nine-year trophy drought.
However, some think it could and perhaps should have been so much more, with the Gunners having led the Premier League for practically the entire first half of the season.
Arsene Wenger watched his side go through what is now becoming a customary collapse in February and March, and the pressure is on the Frenchman to deliver top level signings this summer.
Wenger has insisted injuries are what ruined Arsenal’s challenge for the top prizes this time around, with Theo Walcott, Lukas Podolski, Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere, Mesut Ozil, Laurent Koscielny and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, all spending time in the treatment room this season.
Others argue Wenger should have splashed the cash when he had the chance, but this summer he looks set to be given the chance to put it right – with some reports suggesting he will move for former captain and Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas.
