A debate has broke out amongst Arsenal supporters inside the Football Transfer Tavern, as to whether their team are genuine title contenders this season.
The 2-1 win at Swansea City yesterday was the type of result traditionally ground out by Premier League champions, and the type of gritty performance that Arsenal have been missing in recent seasons.
It has been a remarkable start from Arsene Wenger’s side, especially when you consider the fact they were booed off the park in their season opener to Aston Villa.
The 3-1 defeat that day had many Arsenal fans fearing the worst for the season, but eight straight victories in all competitions plus a couple of top class signings have lifted the mood around the Emirates Stadium.
The supporters seem to have gone full circle with the Arsenal team over the past year.
Last season saw their struggle to finish in the top four, and their early cup exits, before a late season run saw them pip Tottenham to the Champions League post.
Then a summer followed that left Gunners fans furious and frustrated – up until the deadline day signing of Mesut Ozil. Suddenly Arsenal are being talked about as title contenders.
