They say a week is a long time in football, and that has proven very much the case with Chelsea in the past seven days.
Last Wednesday, Jose Mourinho’s side left the French capital with their Champions League hopes hanging by a thread, following a 3-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
That result had followed a 1-0 defeat in the Premier League at Crystal Palace, and it was all very much doom and gloom surrounding Stamford Bridge.
But in the two home games that have followed, Chelsea have got their title challenge back on track with a 3-0 win over Stoke City, and progressed to the Champions League semi-finals following last night’s 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge.
Demba Ba was the unlikely hero, coming off the bench to fire the winner four minutes from time, setting up a semi-final clash amongst Europe’s elite.
And when you look at the fact Chelsea have experienced European glory in their last two seasons, with the Champions League triumph in 2012 and the Europa League success last season, there are plenty around Stamford Bridge who believe their team can now go all the way under Jose Mourinho.
