Chelsea’s 0-0 draw with Norwich City on Sunday all but ended their slim chances of winning the Premier League title this season.
After Jose Mourinho had received high praise from everyone – aside from Brendan Rodgers – for his side’s 2-0 win at Anfield a week ago, he has since seen his side knocked out of the Champions League semi final at the hands of Atletico Madrid.
And Sunday’s bore draw at Stamford Bridge means Mourinho’s first season back in charge of Chelsea is set to end without silverware.
Mourinho has told anyone that will care to listen all season that he see’s his Chelsea side coming up short in the end of season award ceremony’s, but why exactly remains a mystery.
Chelsea have one of the most expensively assembled squads in European football, and completed big money signings such as Andre Schurrle, Willian, Nemanja Matic, Mohamed Salah and Samuel Eto’o over the course of the season.
These players were added to the expensive acquisitions of Eden Hazard and Oscar from the season before, whilst they had a proven Premier League goalscorer in Demba Ba on the clubs books signed only in January 2012.
So what is the reason behind Chelsea’s lack of silverware this season?
