Reports reaching the Football Transfer Tavern today have got Manchester United and Chelsea fans up in arms.
The Independent are amongst those reporting that Manchester United are ready to bid over £30 million for Chelsea’s out of favour playmaker Juan Mata and that a January move is a genuine possibility.
Mata was an unused substitute as Chelsea ran out 3-1 winners over the men from Old Trafford on Sunday and a move away from Stamford Bridge seems to be growing more likely by the day.
Mata has lost his place in the Chelsea first team this season, despite being Player of the Year for the Blues for the past two seasons.
Mourinho has continued to claim that the Spaniard is now considered a deputy for Brazilian star Oscar in the number 10 role, as he has been left unimpressed with the defensive aspect of Mata’s game.
It is a decision that has left many Chelsea fans outraged, and no doubt news of a possible sale to Manchester United is set to spark uproar at Stamford Bridge.
Whilst at present the stories remain speculation, plenty are writing it off as a no-goer.
But with everything that has happened with Mata this season, a January switch to Old Trafford cannot be entirely ruled out.
Here are five reasons Juan Mata to Manchester United could actually come off this month.
