It’s one of the most exciting weeks of the year for us in the Football Transfer Tavern, as we find ourselves in the final week of the January transfer window.
Chelsea and Manchester United have been the stars of the show so far, after Juan Mata swapped Stamford Bridge for Old Trafford last week, and the Blues pinched Mohamed Salah from under the noses of Liverpool to provide a replacement.
This week, it seems all eyes will turn to Premier League leaders Arsenal, with Arsene Wenger’s side still yet to do any business.
Arsenal fans have been desperately craving a new striker since the summer, with Theo Walcott injured for the remainder of the campaign, and the goals having recently dried up for Olivier Giroud.
The Frenchman has performed admirably during the first half of the campaign, but it is plain to see the Gunners need attacking reinforcements if they are to continue their challenge on all fronts.
One attacking reinforcement that has been consistently linked with a switch to the Emirates, is Schalke’s Julian Draxler.
Reports continue to suggest Arsenal are preparing a bid for the 20-year-old, billed as one of the most exciting young talents in European football.
Should this signing come off, it would no doubt send a strong message to those challenging the Gunners this season.
Here we have given five reasons why we believe Julian Draxler could be an Arsenal player by 11pm on Friday.
