The first pre-season in living memory without Sir Alex Ferguson for many Manchester United supporters has been an unusual one by all accounts.
The club have had to experience one of their top players attempting to engineer a move away to a Premier League title rival, whilst failing in their bid to attract reinforcements.
New manager David Moyes has admitted by his own account he has struggled to adapt to managing one of the biggest clubs in world football.
“The transition from Everton to United has been difficult at times as I have hard decisions to make,” Moyes recently stated.
“Everton are a great club and I was proud to manage them. I can’t deny Manchester United is on another level. Let’s be honest, it would be a step up from just about any club in the world. The level of interest from the fans and the press is phenomenal.”
Moyes’ early season signings may well define his tenure at Old Trafford, and with that in mind perhaps you can understand the certain amount of trepidation shown by the Scot in the transfer market.
With the new season just over one week away, Moyes needs to hurry things along and start to prove he is the man to succeed Sir Alex at Old Trafford.
Here are 5 potential signings to show Moyes can hold his own at Manchester United.
