5 summer signings to address the lack of pace at Arsenal

Jackson Martinez Arsenal took another step towards securing Champions League football next season with a convincing 3-0 win over Hull City at the KC Stadium on Sunday.

Arsene Wenger will be hoping that next months FA Cup final goes as well as the dress rehearsal, with Arsenal looking as though they are slowly but surely getting back to their old selves.

Aaron Ramsey marked only his fourth appearance since recovering from injury with the opening goal, whilst Lukas Podolski – another who has been in and out of the treatment room all season – added a brace to secure all three points.

Arsenal fans have been keen to point out the extent of their injury problems this season, and how that may well have affected their failed title challenge.

Ramsey, Podolski, Ozil, Walcott, Oxlade Chamberlain, and Koscielny have all missed large chunks of the season through injury, all players who wen fit would likely be considered first team starters.

One accusation aimed at Arsenal this season has been the severe lack of pace in the side.

Injuries to Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain have not helped, but there has been a noticeable lack of players able to run in behind the defence and cause problems in recent months.

Wenger will be looking to sign players capable of helping the club launch a sustained title challenge next season, and those who can offer that bit of pace that has been sorely lacking at times this season.
