Liverpool fans inside the Football Transfer Tavern are already looking ahead to the summer, after a disappointing January transfer window.
The Reds were linked with a number of exciting reinforcements over the course of the month, but deadline day came and went with no new arrivals at Anfield.
The way the club conducts it’s transfer business has also been called into question, as the Reds once again missed out on both of their reported top targets.
Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah was believed to have been the number one choice, but the Reds failure to match FC Basel’s asking price saw Chelsea pinch the player from under their noses.
Then there was the deadline day saga with Ukraine star Yevhen Konoplyanka, who despite completing a medical and agreeing personal terms with the club, somehow failed to complete the move.
It remains to be seen as to whether Liverpool’s failure to do any business will come back to haunt them by the end of the season, with the race for fourth spot and Champions League qualification still very much in the balance.
The Reds feel it is imperative to their future that they make the top four this time around, so their failure to splash out on reinforcements has left fans confused and frustrated.
In the meantime, we can look ahead to the summer, and five players the tabloids have already linked with a switch to Anfield.
