A week that started so brightly has left Liverpool fans feeling a little flat inside the Football Transfer Tavern.
The Reds managed one of their most impressive results and performances of the season last Tuesday, beating Everton 4-0 at Anfield.
Brendan Rodgers then told his post match press conference that he was hopeful of completing a ‘major’ signing by Friday’s transfer deadline, having previously missed out on top target Mohamed Salah who ended up joining Chelsea.
But despite the Reds sending a team out to Ukraine to negotiate a deal for Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka, Friday’s deadline came and went with no new arrivals walking through the Anfield doors.
The fans were left frustrated, especially with the Reds currently sitting in their best position for years, and looking favourites to make the long awaited return to the Champions League.
The feeling was that a couple of top additions could have cemented their top four place, and their failure to do so was compounded with a frustrating result at The Hawthorns yesterday.
Kolo Toure’s horrendous error gifted the Baggies a point, after Daniel Sturridge had netted his 17th goal of the season to put the Reds in charge.
A disappointing transfer window and result yesterday may have left Liverpool fans feeling flat, but there is still plenty of reasons to be optimistic, as well as some questions to be answered.
Here we take a look at five things we learnt from Liverpool on transfer deadline day.
