Things are about to get serious for Liverpool, with the start of the new Premier League season just 10 days away.
The Reds have enjoyed an excellent pre-season – the Luis Suarez saga aside – and are sure to head into their opener against Stoke City on August 17th high on confidence.
Brendan Rodgers clearly learnt his lessons from last season, and has bought his key signings in early. The likes of Kolo Toure, Simon Mignolet, Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto were all signed well before the club’s first pre-season friendly – a move that can only serve as positive for the Reds.
Rodgers is aware there will be plenty more pressure on him for his second season in the Anfield hotseat.
Last season was all about building the foundations and getting the players comfortable with a new style of play, but this time around it is all about launching a serious assault on the top four.
The club’s owners have often stated Rodgers will be given time as well as money, but you feel this season is crucial as to how Liverpool progress further in the future.
Reds fans will be looking out for any early indications as to how they expect their side to perform during 2013/14.
