Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has shown a real statement of intent already during the close season. Not only does it look as though he has convinced star man Gareth Bale to stay at White Hart Lane for at least another season, but he has added one of Brazil’s brightest young talents to his squad, that came within inches of a fourth placed finish last season.
The man Tottenham have splashed out a record breaking £17 million fee on, is box-to-box midfielder Paulinho. The 24-year-old will arrive in England from Corinthians in his native Brazil, claiming he hopes to be to Tottenham what Frank Lampard has been to Chelsea.
A big statement no doubt, but his career record so far makes you think it is not entirely out of the question. Often a man for the big occasion, capable of scoring all types of goals, and playing with a passion and energy that is tailor-made for the Premier League, Tottenham fans have every reason to think Paulinho could become a hero at White Hart Lane, and the ideal man to slot into a midfield three consisting of Mousa Dembele and fellow Brazilian international Sandro, who is due to be fit for the start of the season.
Here we have compiled a list of five things you may not know about Tottenham’s latest star, who although is yet to be officially announced, expects to complete his transfer imminently.
