Thursday night saw Tim Sherwood put forward another good case as to why he should start next season as Tottenham’s head coach.
Trailing 1-0 on the night to Dnipro, and 2-0 in the tie, Tottenham needed three goals to stand any chance of progressing to the last 16 of the Europa League.
Sherwood’s men showed great character and determination to do just that, and whilst having an extra man undeniably played a part, Tottenham deserve credit for keeping their hopes of silverware alive in difficult circumstances.
Last weekend proved difficult for Sherwood, who saw his side fall six points behind Liverpool in the race for that final Champions League spot, following a 1-0 defeat to Norwich City.
Reports continue to suggest that Sherwood will find himself out of a job come the end of the season, should Tottenham fail to make the top four.
Many consider this to be a harsh reality for Sherwood, who has done well in reviving the clubs fortunes since the departure of Andre Villas-Boas.
The Europa League may prove to be his saving grace, a competition which whilst often mocked, has given the club a chance to blood some of their impressive youngsters in recent times.
With that in mind, we take a look at five Tottenham youngsters we think could be in line for a breakthrough next season – with or without Tim Sherwood in charge.
