Transfer windows and Arsenal Football Club for whatever reason do not seem to mix.
Even when the Gunners have a reported £70million to spend, they manage to turn what should be an exciting time for supporters into a stressful and frustrating experience.
In the two months since the close of the season, Arsenal have failed to bring in any major summer signings, with young French striker Yaya Sanago the only player to walk through the Emirates doors.
The likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Julio Cesar, Luis Suarez, Wayne Rooney, Bernard and Maraoune Fellaini have all been consistently linked with a switch to North London, whilst not a single one has come to fruition.
Higuain looked the main target before sealing a switch to Napoli, whilst Chelsea have moved into pole position to sign Rooney. Brazilian starlet Bernard looked done and dusted, but again the deal has hit complications, whilst the Suarez saga continues to drag on.
Wenger desperately needs to step it up now. With the season just two and half weeks away, the Arsenal manager needs to be brave and launch a few realistic bids – hopefully none that have an extra £1 put on the end for good measure.
