5 transfer ‘missed opportunities’ for Tottenham this summer

deulofeu.jpgTottenham have dominated the headlines all summer with the various incomings and potential outgoings at White Hart Lane.

If reports are to be believed Andre Villas-Boas is set to take his summer spending past the £100 million mark, with moves for Brazilian playmaker Willian and Argentine winger Erik Lamela believed to be in the pipeline.

Whilst those potential deals have increased speculation that Gareth Bale will join Real Madrid as part of a world record move, there remains an air of positivity surrounding White Hart Lane after a successful recruitment programme.

The clubs transfer record has already been smashed twice with the signings of Paulinho and Roberto Soldado, and succesful bids for Willian and Lamela would take the record breaking signings up to four.

The 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday saw Andre Villas-Boas give Premier League debuts to four of his new signings, and whilst there was no Gareth Bale, supporters were left impressed with the performances of the debutants.

Whilst Tottenham will be delighted with the signings they have managed during the close season, AVB and Daniel Levy will always feel there is room for improvement.

Believe it or not, the club have not followed through on every deal they were expected to make, and have been denied in some cases. Whether they prove missed opportunities, only time will tell, but here we have identified a potential five.
