As we come towards the end of October, things are still looking pretty good for Liverpool.
This time a year ago, Raheem Sterling had just scored his first Premier League goal to earn the Reds a 1-0 home win over Reading, which happened to be Brendan Rodgers’ first league win at Anfield, and just his second in the opening eight games.
What a difference a year makes.
Whilst the team that day featured the likes of Sterling, Suso and Andre Wisdom – all fine young players in their own right – the Reds now have the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Daniel Sturridge and Mamadou Sakho to call upon, and the difference has seen them pick up an extra nine points from the same number of games as last season.
There is a genuine feeling around Anfield that if Liverpool can continue in this vein then a top four challenge is not as far beyond them as people think, however the January transfer window may prove crucial.
The additions made by Rodgers last January made a huge difference to Liverpool’s season, and if he can add a couple more top class additions this time around, there may well be a lot of smiling Scousers in May.
Here we have identified 5 transfer priorities for the Liverpool manager to look at.
