5 ‘transfer priorities’ for Manchester United this January

Remy CabellaWhere to start. That is how the punters in the Football Transfer Tavern think this topic can be summed up. As we all know, Manchester United have been less than stellar this season and have simply dropped too many points.

Manager David Moyes seems to think that the lack of ‘world class’ players at the club are to blame, and whilst we would agree with this to an extent, as our landlord points out, there are a few other issues as well.

The fact that the board failed to actively recruit in the summer, not to mention the loss of former manager Sir Alex Ferguson, these factors have proved detrimental in United achieving a positive start to the campaign.

Punters remain unconvinced by Moyes, but as our barmaid points out, he needs time and needs to establish ‘his’ players at the club, such as Marouane Fellaini who joined from Everton this summer.

With that in mind, we have sat down long enough to come up with a list of five names that we think should be considered ‘transfer priorities’ for the club this winter.

That means not just players who have been linked with the club, or players that they fancy having; it is players that could actually make a difference to their title challenge – or as one of our punters quips more realistically, their fight for a top four spot!
