Tottenham surprised a fair few of us in the Football Transfer Tavern last month, with their refusal to chase any new signings.
It seems chairman Daniel Levy is still feeling the effects of several questionable big money summer purchases, and was unwilling to allow new boss Tim Sherwood to splash any more cash.
Tottenham fans have questioned the decision once more, especially with the likes of Lewis Holtby, and Jermain Defoe being allowed to depart the club.
There were even suggestions of more possible outgoings, with three big money summer signings all linked with January moves away.
Erik Lamela was linked with a loan move to Spain, whilst Etienne Capoue was reportedly a £9million target for Napoli.
And £7 million winger Nacer Chadli reportedly held talks with Swansea City over a possible loan move.
Whilst Sherwood has made an impressive start to his managerial career with Tottenham, they are still seen as the outsiders for a Champions League spot.
Liverpool’s 5-1 thrashing of former league leaders Arsenal have made them the firm favourites to seal the position, whilst Everton and Manchester United remain in the hunt.
A failure to make the top four after spending over £100million on new players last summer would be a major blow to Levy, who would perhaps be unlikely to sanction any further big money deals for a while.
With that in mind, we take a look at 5 ‘transfer snips’ that Tottenham could snap up this summer.
