It’s been a week to forget for Chelsea fans inside the Football Transfer Tavern.
Jose Mourinho declared his teams title challenge over, following the shock 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park last weekend.
And their Champions League challenge looks on the brink of falling apart as well, after a crushing 3-1 first leg defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in midweek.
Mourinho has even come under fire himself this week, for his continued protestations that Chelsea are not a squad capable of challenging for the top honours with the lack of firepower they have.
‘The Special One’ has failed to get the best out of Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o or Demba Ba – all strikers who have pretty decent goal records over the course of their career – whilst also allowing Romelu Lukaku to join Everton on loan this season, firing in 13 Premier League goals in the process.
Some Chelsea fans have started to take the attitude of their manager, and believe that this season is set to end with no silverware, despite the fact they only trail league leaders Liverpool by two points, and a 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge next week will see them through to the Champions League semi-finals. It’s not that bad is it?
But for those who think it is and have already started looking ahead to next season, we have scrolled through the transfer rumours and come up with five signings Mourinho should avoid so he doesn’t spend the entirety of next season complaining about what he doesn’t have at his disposal.
