5 transfer targets that Liverpool fans don’t want at Anfield

Ryan Bertrand A fair few Liverpool fans have remained in the Football Transfer Tavern today, drowning their sorrows after England’s opening game defeat to Italy last night.

One punter notes that a consolation for Liverpool fans is the fact that Reds stars Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge perhaps shone brightest  for the Three Lions last night – a possible sign that England can make it out of Group D in the end.

Five Liverpool players started for England on Saturday night, whilst new signing Rickie Lambert remained an unused substitute.

Reds target Adam Lallana also came off the bench in the second half, a player who Brendan Rodgers is understood to have been chasing since the end of the season.

Lallana is one of a number of players who have been linked with a summer switch to Anfield, with the Reds having money to spend having qualified for next season’s Champions League as runners up last season.

You could argue that last summer’s transfer business proved mixed, with defensive reinforcements Kolo Toure, Mamadou Sakho and Simon Mignolet yet to entirely convince, whilst the likes of Iago Aspas, Victor Moses and Luis Alberto struggled to make any sort of impact.

Here, we have identified five players linked with a summer move to Anfield that we think Liverpool fans would not be best pleased with.
