Manchester United fans left the Football Transfer Tavern pleasantly surprised on Tuesday evening, after watching their side battle to a very credible 1-1 draw against Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.
After Liverpool and Manchester City both left Old Trafford with comfortable 3-0 victories last month, many were predicting Pep Guardiola’s side would arrive only to cause further embarrassment to under-fire Red Devils boss David Moyes.
However, the last week may have seen signs of life for the Scot in the Old Trafford hotseat.
First came the show of support inside the ground in spite of that ridiculous plane protest on Saturday, and that was followed with a comfortable 4-1 win over Aston Villa.
And Tuesday’s unexpected draw has kept them very much in the tie against Bayern, with the return leg at the Allianz Arena to come next Wednesday.
Overall there is no escaping the fact it has been a dreadful season for United fans, despite the last couple of encouraging results.
Still not everyone is of the opinion Moyes is the right man to oversee the rebuilding process in the summer, but there have been no indications as of yet that it is likely to be anyone else.
If Moyes is given money to spend, this upcoming transfer window is one he simply has to get right.
Here we take a look at five potential signings the Old Trafford faithful might not be too thrilled with.
