5 transfers to help boost an Arsenal title challenge

Marco ReusStunned is the word here in the Football Transfer Tavern as we process the fact that Arsenal are top of their Champions League group and the Premier League right now.

As our landlord reminds us, the Gunners are in the so-called ‘group of death’ no less and are top of what we consider to be the strongest Premier League we have seen, well ever.

Had someone said that Arsene Wenger’s men would be top of the tree and looking every inch like genuine challengers at the start of the season, we would have had a quiet word and told them to lay off the tequila!

The start made by the Gunners has been sensational. This has, in no small part been down to two summer signings – Mesut Ozil and Mathieu Flamini. Both have been vital, along with Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud. In fact, very few Arsenal players have been less than sensational thus far. Arsene Wenger is going around with a rather smug grin on his face, and who can blame him?

Why are we mentioning this you may ask? Well it is because one of our punters had asked who Wenger might be looking to sign in January.

Clearly the calibre of player he can attract sitting at the top of the table both domestically in Europe is a different prospect to fighting for the top four and flirting with the Europa League qualification positions.

With that in mind, we have taken a look at five players that the Gunners could sign in January to really help boost a potential title challenge.
