5 transfers to help West Ham United achieve a respectable finish

Andre-Pierre GignacWest Ham United fans inside the Football Transfer Tavern remain concerned about their sides current position, and have gathered around the pool table to discuss some potential January signings.

Sam Allardyce came under fire last week for his sides poor display in the 3-0 defeat to Chelsea at Upton Park – a result that saw his side slip to 17th in the table, and meant the Hammers had managed just one goal in their last five league and cup matches.

The lack of goals has proved the biggest problem of all for the Hammers, with record signing Andy Carroll yet to kick a ball in the Premier League this season.

Allardyce has even opted to play without a forward for most of his side’s matches, deploying a ‘false 9’ system, rather than starting the re-signed Carlton Cole or flop forward Modibo Maiga.

Reports suggest the Hammers will look to sign two strikers in the January transfer window, and that the club have drawn up a shortlist of no fewer than 20 options.

With Allardyce’s side sitting dangerously above the drop zone, he knows his January signings will have to be on the money.

Here we have identified five potential signings to pull West Ham away from trouble, and help them achieve a respectable Premier League finish.
