Arsenal fans are going into the summer hoping it does not prove as stressful as this time a year ago.
The Gunners were linked with a host of top class players; the likes of Wayne Rooney, Stevan Jovetic, Gonzalo Higuain, Bernard and of course Luis Suarez.
But to everybody’s frustrations, Wenger waited until the very last moment to act – although he did complete the club record signing of Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid.
Despite this however, Arsenal fans suffered the familiar feeling of watching their title challenge fade away during March and April, and had to once again settle for a fourth-placed finish.
The FA Cup success and the end of the nine-year-trophy drought appears to have brought Wenger more time, but it is looking imperative that he goes out and spends big this summer in order to get his side challenging for the top prizes.
Arsenal supporters want to see their team going for the Premier League and Champions League, and with big money available following the new kit deal with Puma, they will be hoping this summer is the time they add the signings to do just that.
With the World Cup kicking off in two weeks’ time, Wenger will have the opportunity to scout some potential new stars once the tournament gets underway in Brazil.
