Manchester United have found themselves linked with virtually every player under the sun since the arrival of Louis Van Gaal.
The Dutchman is said to have essentially ripped up the shopping list of predecessor David Moyes, and identified a host of players he wants to sign in order to get Manchester United back to the pinnacle of English football.
He first has the small matter of coaching the Dutch national team at the summer’s World Cup, which may go some way to explaining the lack of transfer activity at Old Trafford so far.
United fans endured a season the likes of which many will never have experienced before during 2013-14 – and it all started going wrong during the previous summer transfer window.
David Moyes identified a host of targets, missed out on the lot, and in the end had to settle for the over-priced Maraoune Fellaini.
United spent the rest of the season paying the price, and Moyes found himself out of a job by the end of the season.
Van Gaal knows how important summer strengthening is to United, and has the unique advantage of seeing potential targets at close quarters whilst managing at the World Cup in Brazil.
With so much talent on display this summer, we have identified five players United may consider signing from Group F, which includes Argentina, Iran, Nigeria and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
