Arsenal supporters have come to dread transfer windows in recent years.
When they haven’t been going through the pain of watching the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri, or Robin Van Persie walking out the exit door, they have been forced to contend with watching Arsene Wenger and the clubs board refusing to spend big money on reinforcements.
The last two transfer windows have been teetering on the edge of farcical for the Gunners, with the deadline day capture of Mesut Ozil last year going a long way to mask what was incredibly frustrating summer.
Wenger targeted the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Bernard, Stevan Jovetic, and of course Luis Suarez – but failed on each occasion.
January proved a similar story, with a striker to support Olivier Giroud thought to be a priority.
The only arrival came in the form of crocked Swedish midfielder Kim Kallstrom (on a loan deal), and the Gunners saw their title challenge predictably fade away as injuries took their toll through February and March.
Arsenal fans are praying it will be a different story this time around, especially with all the reports suggesting Wenger has plenty of cash to spend following the new kit deal with Puma.
With the World Cup kicking off in a matter of days, the Arsenal boss will surely be on the lookout for potential new signings… won’t he?
