54% of fans think that Chelsea should not secure a deal for 2-time UCL winner this summer

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are increasingly nervous about the impending departure of John Terry…

The Englishman’s contract at Stamford Bridge is set to expire at the end of the season, and with no renewal in sight, it seems likely that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season.

That being said, it’s difficult to justify the idea of him being given a new deal. He has been injury-ridden this season, and has rarely been a feature under Antonio Conte, and so a departure tends to make a lot of sense. But it isn’t that simple.

His influence in the dressing room is huge, particularly given the lack of experience that the rest of Chelsea’s first team squad have. That being said, when Pepe was linked with a move to Stamford Bridge earlier this week, a few of the fans in the Transfer Tavern suggested that he might be the perfect player to replace John Terry.

A regular trophy winner with years of experience, what could go wrong?

Well, according to a recent poll ran by our landlord, a lot could go wrong. Indeed, 54% of fans think that a move for Chelsea would be a bad idea – with many seemingly more interested in ensuring that their side invests in young talent.

Indeed, whilst Pepe would offer experience, his own game has reduced in quality in recent years, and a move for him could be seen as a step back for the Blues.

Your move, Antonio.
