Manchester City are one of few teams in world football who will struggle to add genuine improvement to their squad this summer, after dominating the English game last season.
Pep Guardiola though is a manager who strives for perfection and improvement in his players, and he will no doubt have his eye on a few players already, knowing full well that funds will not be an issue should he identify any potential signings.
Here in the Tavern, our landlord and the City fans have been having a good old chinwag about who the club could look to sign, and one player that has kept cropping up in conversation is German strike ace, Timo Werner.
Valued at a whopping £54m by website Transfermarkt, the young forward has been a revelation over the last two seasons at RB Leipzig, and it looks like only being a matter of time before he gets a move to one of the so called giants of world football.
Werner knocked in an impressive 21 goals in all competitions last season, while also laying on a further ten goals for his teammates.
At just 22, he is in the prime age to move on and develop his game further, and he will no doubt be looking to shine and increase his stock further at this summer’s World Cup in Russia.
City will be looking for new strikers, with speculation still surrounding the future of Sergio Aguero, and Werner would appear to be ideal sort of fit for Guardiola’s men.
City fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
