£58.5m-rated international open to Liverpool switch as Klopp considers summer move

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to the second-half of the season. It has been a very progressive season so far for the Reds, and whilst a Premier League title challenge might be one step too far for Klopp’s men, it’s clear that they’re a side on the up.

Clearly, then, the future is looking very bright for the club, with a lot of focus being placed on the long-term, rather than the short-term.

That has been reflected in their transfer policy, with exciting players like Mohamed Salah and Naby Keita agreeing moves to Liverpool over the last year. There’s no sign of this policy ending, too, at least according to the Independent.

The Independent are reporting that Liverpool are monitoring Monaco man Thomas Lemar with a view to potentially making a huge move for the attacker. Significantly, it is said that Anfield remains the preferred destination of the Frenchman  – perhaps giving Klopp’s men an advantage in any potential race to land him. He has reportedly rejected a fresh contract offer from Monaco.

This is a pretty big boost for Liverpool. Whilst they may not be imminently preparing a big money move, he’s clearly on their radar, and that’s no real surprise.

He’s rated at £58.5 million by Transfer Markt, which would represent a pretty sizeable financial outlay for the Reds, not to mention the fact that, in the modern market, clubs are often charging a premium for their best players. In Lemar, though, the Reds would certainly be investing in huge potential.

Lemar has emerged as one of Europe’s brightest talents over the last 18 months or so. At just 22-years-old, he’s turned into a crucial member of the Monaco first team, providing fantastic energy and enthusiasm going forward. He has picked up 2 goals and 5 assists this term, and whilst that doesn’t quite compare to his record last year, it’s still a decent tally.

Electric pace, technique and quality on the ball, he’d be a great signing for the Reds – at least according to our landlord.

Landlord’s Verdict

Lemar is sure to be one of Europe’s most in-demand players this summer, and Liverpool appear to have a decent chance of landing his signature.

They could do with bringing in another huge attacking name, following the departure of Coutinho, and a move for Lemar – who is a France international – makes a lot of sense as a result.
