West Ham United spent big in the summer transfer window, but with Marko Arnautovic seemingly heading towards the exit door at the London Stadium Pellegrini should have some money to spend this month.
Indeed, the Hammers will certainly be looking to replace the talismanic Austria international with a new centre-forward, but the club may yet wish to use the funds to also strengthen in other areas of the pitch.
One position in which Pellegrini may be hoping to add further depth is in central defence, with a report from Corriere dello Sport (via Football Italia) suggesting that he is interested in signing Miranda from Inter Milan this month.
In response to the report, we asked the Hammers faithful whether they would like to see the 34-year-old veteran arrive at the London Stadium, and the result was close to an even split as just 58% of fans voted yes to a potential deal.
The experienced international has both a Champions League runners up medal and a La Liga winners medal from his time at Atletico Madrid, but his age has clearly given some supporters cause for concern.
Pellegrini is not blessed with huge strength in depth in central defence and he may yet be forced to sanction a deal for at least one new enforcer – whether it be Miranda or another target – before the window closes this month.
If West Ham are able to convince Miranda to move to east London, there is no doubt he would be an excellent mentor for the increasingly dependable Issa Diop.
