6 Of The Best Bosmans Di Matteo Should Consider This Summer

With football finances set to be put under the microscope when the FIFA fair play rules come into force clubs will be increasingly interested in players of a certain quality who they can snatch up on a free.

Most people think free transfers are often average players who clubs weren’t prepared to fight their corner and keep the player, but in most cases it is good players who feel they are playing at a club below their level. We only have to look at Demba Ba at Newcastle to see this bosman rule isn’t all bad.

Here is a list of 6 players which may interest Roberto Di Matteo or any other potential Chelsea boss this summer:

Junior Hoilett

This kid is a MUST get for me, his form this season has been terrific on a struggling Blackburn side and he is still only 21! He has 7 goals and 6 assists this term which has kept Blackburn’s hopes of survival alive. He has pace, trickery and a goal scoring know-how to succeed at the very top. With better players around him and top level coaching he could go on to be a top class football star and since he would only cost the club wages I would fight tooth and nail to get him to the Bridge.

Royston Drenthe

Once one of the most sought after youngsters on the planet Drenthe’s career stalled after signing for Real Madrid. He has impressed during his loan spell at Everton and has shown signs this season of why he was once so highly rated. He attitude seems to be a stumbling block for some clubs but on a bosman he could well be worth a punt.

Carlos Cuellar

The current Aston Villa man has bags of Premier League experience and has never shown himself to be out of place at this level. Capable of providing cover for Ivanovic at right back after what will hopefully be the departure of Jose Bosingwa from the Bridge he can also be used as a centre back should Chelsea be hit with an injury crisis. A very capable defender who would need some work on his attacking play but could be a very good addition as a squad player.

Ederson

Ederson is a Brazilian midfield player who currently plays for Ligue 1 big boys Lyon. The 26-year-old is capable of playing anywhere across a midfield four and wide in a front three, this versatility is a bonus to any manager and he may just be the man the replace Florent Malouda at Chelsea.

Tranquillo Barnetta

Any player who’s name contains the word tranquil you know is going to be calm on the ball. The 26-year-old Swiss winger, currently at Bayern Levekusen, impressed everyone during the 2010 world cup with a string of good performances helping Switzerland progress to the latter stages. He is a player with bags of experience playing over 180 times for Levekusen and 60 times at international level. He has Champions League experience and is a player Chelsea seriously lack, a proper winger.

Jefferson Farfan

Reclaimed a share of the spotlight last season when he helped un-fancied Schalke porgress to the Champions League semi-finals. At 27 he has years of experience making over 100 appearances in both Holland and Germany, he possesses bags of pace and flair but also has an eye for goal which is important in modern wingers. Another player who would have set any club back around £8-10m a couple of years ago so surely is worth a risk on a bosman.
