£63M Spend Up On The Cards? Has Levy Had A Breakdown?!

Money-tight Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has impressed many with his eye for transfer-bargains and harsh stance regarding negotiations, but could he go against his principle to spend a huge £63 million to bring in Brazillian duo Leandro Damiao and Hulk?

According to the Daily Mail, a Spurs scout was sent to the Riverside Stadium on Friday evening where the two Brazillian’s were on form in a 2-0 win over Team GB in a pre-olympic warm up game.

As well as rumours incorrectly accusing AVB of tapping up Hulk to come to Spurs after images surfaced online which saw the two be reunited in London last week, it would just be a fantasy for any Tottenham fan to comprehend the Spurs board spending £38 million on one single player, with the previous record signing being £16.5 million for Luka Modric.

However, it is no secret that AVB is fond of his former player from Porto who would fit perfectly in his attacking tactics. With his most favoured position taking the right wing in the 4-3-3 formation, Hulk’s strength and crossing ability has seen him attract the attention of the Champions League winners from last season with who he was very strongly linked with. However, with a fee which would smash the club’s record transfer fee and a wage going into 6 figures, it is unlikely that this transfer deal will happen for the North London club.

What about long term target Leandro however?

The Internacional striker has declared his intentions to stay with the Brazillian side, but with the captain of the national team being a Tottenham player, Sandro might be able to persuade the striker that if he is to join the Premier League, it will not affect his chance of selection for the 2014 World Cup in their home nation of Brazil.

Tottenham need to tempt Internacional to part ways with their striker for a fee rumoured to estimate around £20 million. But with Tottenham only having one recognisable striker at the club, unsettled Jermain Defoe, the club are in a very desperate situation as they hope to bring in a new strike-force for the next season.

Could Spurs actually splash the cash on this new attacking duo? Leave your comments below.
