£6M Deal Brokered With Real Chiefs: Arsene Will Kick Start Gunners New Year Campaign

Arsenal are finally ready to make a formal offer for Real Madrid midfielder Esteban Granero, according to reports coming out of Spain.

Arsene Wenger has always been a keen admirer of the combative Spanish midfielder and reports have been rife for a few months about the prospect of Granero joining Arsenal in January.

We previously broke this story back in September HERE , that Arsenal were lining up a move for Granero, after the departures of Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas left Arsenal short on midfield options and now it seems Wenger is ready to capture his man.

According to Goal.com, The Gunners have already opened talks with Real Madrid to push through with a deal and an Arsenal delegation reportedly met with Real chiefs last week.

The lengthy injury suffered by England midfielder Jack Wilshere had already forced Wenger to look into the possibility of signing another midfielder, but apparently a setback to Abou Diaby’s recovery from injury has all but confirmed the need for the Frenchman to dip into the transfer market in January, something which he is usually reluctant to do.

On Diaby’s setback, Wenger said, ”You won’t see him [Diaby] for a while, the next three weeks. I am worried but I was more worried three months ago. His ankle was not good but the surgery went very well then.”

It is believed a bid of around £6 million would be enough to secure the 24 year-old Spaniard, who has fallen out of favour at Real Madrid this season under Jose Mourinho, having made just two appearances.

I presume the opportunity to move to Arsenal and play regular football would be something Granero could be very interested in, especially since some of his fellow Spanish players are currently lighting up the Premier League with their talents, in the shape of David Silva and Juan Mata.

Rumours of Granero moving to Arsenal have been around for a while and it may now finally have some substance to it at last.
