As Wolves look to make a big impact in the Premier League on their return to top flight football, all eyes at Molineux will be firmly focussed on whether the club can maintain their high standards set last season.
The Molineux club were far and away the best side in the Championship last term and they romped to success in the second tier, thanks in large part to the influence of Jorge Mendes, who brought in talented players such as Ruben Neves, Diogo Jota, and Wily Boly to name but a few.
The big names have not exactly continued to flow this summer, although the capture of Joao Moutinho is a big one, and it will be interested to see just how Wolves do in the coming season.
We at the Transfer Tavern think squad depth could be key for the Midlanders, and with that in mind, we reckon that Swansea City midfielder Leroy Fer would be a solid capture for the Premier League newcomers.
The £7.2m-rated midfielder is far too good for the Championship, and has been a solid if not spectacular performer in the top flight for a number of seasons now.
While he might not dislodge the likes of Neves from the starting XI, it’s important for Wolves to have strength in numbers, and Fer brings them just that.
Good on the ball, willing to put up a fight if needed and capable of chipping in with the odd goal, Fer would be a welcome and not too costly addition to the ranks at Molineux.
