Everton’s hunt for a new striker, presumably to partner Jelavic, looks set to continue as the Toffees number one target Hugo Rodallega is demanded £70k a week in wages!
David Moyes is thought to have been keen on the striker, who was linked with Champions League chasing Spurs in January, after the former Wigan strikers contract expired this summer meaning he is available on a free transfer. A proposition which must have been tempting for cash strapped Everton.
Talks stalled after Everton thought the Columbian’s wage demands were excessive given his injury hit season last term in which he netted just 2 Premier League goals.
Once one of the highest rated strikers outside the top four in the Premier League and linked with the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal, Rodallega’s career has stalled after a series of injuries resulting in a loss of form.
The former Wigan may have been worth £70k per week at one stage, in some peoples eyes at least, but on current form and given the fact he hasn’t got people fighting over his signature I’m shocked he has demanded this much on weekly wages.
Everton are better off out of it providing they can find another target who’s agent may be a bit more realistic. As for Rodallega, he may well be another good player who ends up fleeing to a poor league much like Asamoah Gyan.
It seems Rodallega has managed to convince Fulham that his wage demands are reasonible as they have just signed him on a 3-year-deal…
